Sperm Counts May Well Be Falling, Yes

A new reason we should all do something – or stop doing some other thing – which is that sperm counts are falling. If this continues then humans become extinct, AIEEEE!

It would help if there was a little more knowledge behind the claim of course:

Between 1964 and 2018 the global fertility rate fell from 5.06 births per woman to 2.4. Now approximately half the world’s countries have fertility rates below 2.1, the population replacement level.

While contraception, cultural shifts and the cost of having children are likely to be contributing factors, Swan warns of indicators that suggest there are also biological reasons – including increasing miscarriage rates, more genital abnormalities among boys and earlier puberty for girls.

Swan blames “everywhere chemicals”, found in plastics, cosmetics and pesticides, that affect endocrines such as phthalates and bisphenol-A.

The falling birth rates are because people got rich. We do know this because they started falling in places where people got rich but before efficient contraception, before the invention or at least widespread adoption of plastics.

Whether it’s quite just that people are richer and so have other things to do as well as raise kids or because richer kids are more likely to survive so fewer are needed is still argued over. But richer people have fewer kids, this past couple of centuries has shown that.

But, of course, there’s more:

“Chemicals in our environment and unhealthy lifestyle practices in our modern world are disrupting our hormonal balance, causing various degrees of reproductive havoc,” she writes.

The biggest source of endocrine disruptors in the environment is women on the pill pissing into the sewage system. We do not – largely because we’ve not a method of doing so – extract this. We do not research a manner of doing so, nor even mutter that perhaps we’d better do something, because to even hint that women controlling their own fertility comes with some costs is not woke.

As here. The case is that endocrine disruptors will make the human race extinct in short order. But not once is the major source – the pill – discussed. QED.

  1. But, but this means that, as these horrid humans grow richer, there’ll be fewer of them. They’ll have less impact on Holy Mother Gaia.

Indeed if they become sufficiently rich they’ll find child rearing so boring that there’ll be none of them at all. Greenism will have won!!!

But now the woke are whinging about this. Could it be once the pestilential plebs have eliminated themselves, there’ll be no slaves available to be flogged back into their service. Which is of course what all their whining is really supposed to achieve.
